God is Not Your Enemy

Isn't it sad that there are still churches that preach a God that is only concerned with what we do and don't do and never stops to actually smile at us?

If you think it's a strange thought that God might smile at you, this article is definitely for you. God is just and holy. He is righteous and he doesn't like sin, rebellion and any form of pride or haughtiness.

God likes saved sinners and loves them. God also loves unsaved sinners because he is a Redeemer God and wants to see them saved. He loves unsaved people with a redemptive love.

So how does God love me - a saved sinner? He loves me as His child, as an heir of the eternal kingdom of God and as a person who is a part of the body of Christ, as a person who is a part of Christ's bride.

He loves me like a Father who wants to bless His child with guidance, rebuke and clear do's and don'ts and with a blessed assurance of salvation. He challenges me and warns me not to tresspass (sin) against Him. And when I do, He is there to forgive me because all my sins were paid for through Jesus Christ, His Son.

God smiles at me, when I am truly alive in Christ. He rejoices in me being saved and He yearns to see me mature as a Christian. He wants me to be firmly rooted in my trust and obedience to the Lord, my God.

Do I have to be afraid of God? No!

  • God ist not my enemy. He is my friend. John 15:13
  • As a saved sinner, I want to please my God and want to love Him. That's why I pray that God would help me to be obedient to God's commands. John 15:14
  • We are truly His children. So great is God's love. 1. Joh. 3:1
  • God loved me even when I was still His enemy. Romans 5:8
I never have to be afraid of God. Even as an unsaved person, God reaches out to me with his saving grace. And once I am saved, God reaches out to me with his lovingkindness, patience and faithfulness because even though I am saved I do sin and need to know that God is still on my side even though I still have a dark side that sins.

God will never let me down no matter how often I let God down. He has made an eternal covenant with me. I am saved for ever because I accepted God's gift of salvation.

Do a Bible search on God's faithfulness and a Bible search on the accuser!

You will quickly see the difference between God and the accuser (Satan). Don't mistake God as your accuser. He never accuses you. He puts you right, he rebukes you and makes sure you follow His commands for your own good, for He loves you.

Only people who are proud and who mock God have to be afraid of God and of dying, for they will not see salvation but condemnation. They do not want to accept God's gift of salvation for they are too proud to do so. They should be afraid - but, sadly, proud people, are so blinded to the reality of Christ's saving power that they cannot understand God's gracious gift of eternal life that He offers to all mankind. You need to know that you are a filthy sinner and need to be saved. You need to know how holy God is and how filthy you are.

So - if you are a proud person, pray that God would make you humble, for the Gospel can only be understood by people who humble themselves before God.

Also make sure that the accuser doesn't deceive you! Be afraid of that! Always check your beliefs against what the Bible says to make sure you know God and know your Saviour's voice.

May God bless you and save you into His eternal kingdom. May He help you to hold fast to your faith in Him, no matter what. - MercyMinder
